Here today, Gone tomorrow.......

So I'm making my return because of some encouragement from my best friend....She now has her own blog..Hardscrabble Roads, and has inspired me to return to mine!  It has been a long time and a lot has happened since I last posted.

I now have a beautiful 4 month old son..His name is Ezra Jonathan.  He is the brightest spot in my life and I'm so in love with him!  We've had a rough couple of years waiting for him but my God knew how much I could handle and just when I thought I would lose my mind He blessed us with this amazing and wonderful gift!

Back to the reason I'm posting this entry...My best friend moved away and I'm really sad.  She and her husband have followed a call for ministry in Miami Florida.  We've been through a lot the last couple of years and it has brought us much closer together!  She is my soul sister and I truly believe that no matter the distance, we will only become closer through our life experiences.  Thank you KJ for the beautiful friendship that you have given to me so freely and for encouraging me and loving me despite some bumps in the road.  I thank God for you every day and feel so blessed to call you my friend!  I will miss our infrequent coffee dates at Pistachio Vera and the drop ins during a slow day of work.. Most of all I will miss seeing your face and having you near when times get hard.

Best Friends Forever

There is so much to share and update everyone on, but for today that's all!

RE-design

I'm in the process of redesigning my office.  I just purchased a 22in LED Monitor so that I may edit pictures in my office with my laptop.  My screen on my laptop is nice, but it's a tad bit small.  As my desk, I'm using my old dining room table from our condo.  Its a rather large table and has a lot of workspace.  My trouble is that it's almost too big and things are hard to reach.  I've purchased a few items from antique stores to give it a vintage feel..ie wooden crate, metal tray, metal crate...etc.  I love the feel of old and new and have been having fun mixing the two.  I'll have to keep you updated on the finished look.  I know it might take me a few times to get it right and functional!

I know it's been a bit long since my last post and I'm terribly sorry that I haven't been keeping up with it.  I've been very busy this past season with a lot of photo sessions.  I'm torn on where exactly this blog is going.  I would really love to use it as a place for our home projects, but we are in a season where we are waiting to do the big things and a lot of the little things have already been done.  I am considering changing directions and using this platform as a place to display my work as a photographer and a marketing tool for my future business.  I appreciate your patronage and ask for your patience as I try and figure all of this out.  I guess what's holding me back is that I still don't have a name for my company.  There are many thoughts and ideas, but none seem to scream me.  If you have any suggestions that you would like to share, I am very open to hearing them!  Thanks again!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I love matches!!!

I wanted to make something for my house that would reflect my love of whimsical and practical.  We have boxes of matches laying around the house and I wanted them to be more personal instead of the red and blue diamond packaging.  I saw this post on Style Me Pretty and thought I would try it!  I'm excited to share with you the final results.  Follow this tutorial to make your own at home!  Have fun and happy crafting!

Shades of Grey or is it Gray?

We have completed a project that has been looming since we moved in.  We have hated our purple front door and have finally done something about it!  Sitting at Bob Evans yesterday enjoying a wonderful labor day breakfast with my husband, we were discussing projects that wouldn't be expensive or time consuming to start and finish.  The agreed upon project was the front door.  You see, our house is green and not so much a flattering green but green nonetheless.  We don't love it, but it was just painted a couple of years ago and we are not going to pay to have it done until we have to.  We chose a color that we thought would blend in and not stand out.  We chose Behr Amazon Stone in Semi-Gloss.  I did two coats and it looks great.  I'm happy to have one thing off my list of things to do.

On to the next one......

Until then!

It's been awhile

Hello all my bloggie freinds!  I'm so sorry that I have been absent for a few weeks!  I've been busy traveling and painting..  The traveling was a blast but the painting wasn't so.  I will say that I got excited when my husband said that I could buy paint for our dining room and bedroom!  We've been taking a long break from doing anything on the house because we were saving back up after we went on vacation.  We spent a little under 4 days in NYC and had a blast walking around and shooting pictures.  I captured a lot of inspirational things and can't wait to share it all with you.

I will be posting pictures of our newly painted room as soon as I take them and approve of their quality.  Until then, I will share some pictures of our trip along with a beautiful wedding we attended in New Jersey this past summer!  Have a wonderful weekend!

inspiration

Since I don't have any recent projects to share with you I will share some of our points of inspiration for the house.  I love that the fireplace is a centerpiece.  With our fireplace in the corner I want to be able to accent it without it taking over the space.  We would love to add some moulding to the front of the fireplace that will go from the ceiling to the mantle that will add some architectural detail.  We are also considering doing a slate stacked tile to replace the ceramic surround that is currently there.

Our kitchen we had already painted it grey and now we are deciding what to do about the countertop.  I would love to do concrete countertop.  I love the feel and look of it in a kitchen.  I would love to add some brighter green accents with backsplash and art so hopefully that is something we can consider.

The master bath we have not touched since we moved in.  I hate that it has carpet in it and would love to start updating it but unfortunately, we have a few things on the list ahead of it.  We are thinking about slate for the master bathroom and pairing it with a light turquoise color.  I also love the trough sink.

Happy Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day to all of you that have served or are serving our country with your braveness!  I appreciate you and what you have done to help make this country free!
We had a great weekend with some friends that came in town from Massachussetts and I will leave you with some pictures of the dogs having fun at Whetstone park yesterday!

I will have some new things to post very soon.

Enjoy your monday off!
