Craigslist is my friend

I found the most amazing sideboard/buffet table on craigslist this weekend!  I've been busy perusing the website and I have to admit if you're looking for a piece of furniture and you don't want to spend a ton, craigslist is the way to go!  So not only had I found the buffet table but also a solid wood desk and a bedroom suite for the guest bedroom!  Ra and I picked up the table today and I took some pictures of it to share with all of you.  It is a solid antique piece with 6 drawers and 2 cabinets.  We are debating refinishing it or leaving it and changing the hardware.  Personally I like the hardware but Ra isn't so sure!

I have a ton of projects lined up but don't have the time or the necessary resources to start or complete them.  Some of them include painting a lamp, stripping and re-staining a side table, and getting pictures I've taken printed to hang.  I haven't done very much on the house recently.  It's been quite busy lately!  I can't wait to be able to cross some things off my list.

finished project

So I had mentioned last week that we were having our great room and ceiling painted and I am happy to say that it is finished! Our guy did an amazing job and gave us a great deal! If you need a good painter let me know I am happy to pass on his information! I thought I would post some pics of the finished paint project. We didn't do a major color difference in the room. Instead we had it painted a soft shade of white just to freshen up the space.

I'm a GLEEK!!!

This is completely off topic from home things but I'm sitting here with my husband watching Glee and I'm so blown away by the talent on the show! When I watch the singing it completely inspires me! You know when you love something so much it gives you goose bumps? That's what amazing harmony and singing does to me! Amazing!

inspiration

As I was perusing Marshalls/Home Goods on saturday I came across this beautiful tablecloth that gave me so much inspiration for our dining room. I love the colors in it and it definitely reflects what I think spring is all about. It also happened to match the most beautiful roses my husband gave me for our anniversary! Our plan for the dining room is still very much unknown. Other than our dining room table which is new, we don't know exactly what we want to do there yet. We've been tossing around the idea of some architectural moldings as well as chair railing and crown molding for the space. The colors in the tablecloth are pink, yellow, orange, tan, and coral. I know it sounds like an interesting combination, but it looks absolutely delightful in person! So without overdoing it in this room I was thinking of painting above the chair rail a light coral color. I think with the white moldings it will make the room pop without being too rigid. What do you think?

I'm so excited!!!! We have hired a guy to paint our great room walls and ceiling! There is no way that we can reach them without being on an extremely tall ladder. When I say tall I mean 24 feet high! I told my husband that I wasn't going to step foot on the ladder and either was he. I'm extremely scared of being up that high! SO we hired the guy who painted our condo and did such a great job on it. We've decided to keep the color in the living room very soft and clean. A shade of white on all the walls and a bright white on the ceiling! I'm so thrilled. SO I just wanted to share that tidbit of excitement! I will leave you with a few pics of the dogs enjoying the view!

exterior

I was able to get out in the beautiful weather last week to share some pictures of the exterior of our house. We absolutely love the peaks of the home and we think that the roof line is very interesting. What's cool about the house is that there is a lot of architectural detail inside and outside the home. Some facts about our house. It was built in 1997 by C.V. Perry and it is a custom build. It's been difficult to define and design our style because it doesn't follow any set of rules. Most homes have an era in which you can base your design/decor on but with ours it's been more difficult. Hopefully we will be able to decorate according to the architectural detail of the home. My husband's taste is a bit more modern and industrial and mine is a bit more shabby chic/modern. I like textures and chipping paint and rust and my husband likes clean lines, bright colors, and steel. We will see what kind of compromises we will make as we go along.
